Price Chopper Rebrands Themselves Into Market32!

Today Price Chopper Supermarkets announced that they are in the process of rebranding themselves into "Market32". Price Chopper was founded in 1932, hence the name Market32. Three stores are currently being converted into Market 32 stores including the locations in Wilton and Clifton Park! The building of a brand new Market32 in Sutton, Massachusetts breaks ground tomorrow.

According to The Golub Corporation, which owns PC, in fives years time over half of the 135 current PC stores will be converted into Market32 stores with a total price tag of 300 million! I must admit, when I first saw the press release this seemed like some kind of April Fools joke but it does make sense as PC needs to modernize their stores, add greater selection and re-focus on customer service in order to compete with Wegmans, ShopRite and even Fresh Market. I imagine that the Market Bistro in Latham was the test run for this and that they have been pretty happy with the results.

According to the press release, "key elements of the savings platform will be incorporated into Market32, such as Price Chopper brand products, AdvantEdge card savings, weekly features and special promotions, the fuel AdvantEdge program, double coupons and e-coupons".

What do you think about this?
